Every child dreams about the future, but what happens when they have no one to share it with?
In Spain, more than 21,000 children are living in foster homes, away from their biological parents. They, too, are dreamers but in order for them to keep dreaming, they need love and support.
During our Master in Visual and Digital Media program at IE School of Human Sciences and Technology, we were given the chance to help Soñar Despierto (an NGO working with 85+ foster care institutions in Spain) to reach their goals through a transmedia campaign.
From our research, we found out that it is not enough to tell children that they can achieve their dreams. It's important to help them create a vivid picture of what they want to become. So we created "El Libro de los Sueños," a place to keep the dreams of children safe, especially those who do not have a safe place at home.
Digital Book of Dreams
Over 40 children from 6 foster homes in Madrid and Barcelona contributed their dreams in the form of drawings. We stitched all of these together in a digital book for everyone to see and shared it on the web, an email newsletter, and social media.

The reactions to the campaign were astonishing, grown ups all over Spain were reminded of what it's like to dream as a child. We were able to get Soñar Despierto featured in TeleMadrid and grab the attention of the famous singer, Alejandro Sanz.
"El Libro de los Sueños" goes back to the core of Soñar Despierto... that every child deserves the right to dream.
